The annual magazine of GRIHA Council "Shashwat-Let Nature Be", is released at The GRIHA Summit each year. Its previous issues had themes such as, Cities of Future and High Performance Habitat in its previous issues.
 
Are Rechargeable or Long-Life Batteries Best for the Environment?
Researchers encourage the use of rechargeable batteries mainly for high-consumption devices such as cameras, flashlights, and electronic toys, which require frequent recharging. Batteries charged less than 20 times do not diminish pollution problems such as ocean acidification, human toxicity (cancer effects), and particulate matter more so than their single-use cousins, and may even contribute more to ozone depletion unless they’re recharged around 150 times.
 
Melbourne most liveable city; Karachi and Dhaka among the least, reveals the Global Liveability Report.
Melbourne is the most livable city in the world, followed by Austrian capital, Vienna and Canada's Vancouver in the second and third place respectively, reveals a survey. According to the Global Liveability Report compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), no Indian city was ranked in the top ten or bottom ten in the most liveable city ranking.
 
 
 
Affordable micro-homes can pop up in just one day, can you believe?
An innovative initiative titled ‘The SHED Project’, a plan to insert affordable micro-homes inside vacant buildings across the city. Built from affordable, low-impact materials, these compact SHEDS take only one day to construct and can be easily styled into attractive tiny dwellings.

Los Angeles, and many other cities around the world, suffer from what is called the urban heat island effect, in which the dense infrastructure and activity of the city generates and traps heat beyond what might normally be expected based on the region’s climate.

A three-day training programme was organized by GRIHA Council in association with TERI from July 26-28, 2017 at The Pride Hotel, 5 University Road, Shivajinagar, Pune 411005. The workshop aimed at enhancing the knowledge on green buildings and GRIHA rating parameters for building professionals like architects, engineers, developers and others.
