  8th GRIHA Regional Summit held in Mumbai to build core competencies in the state and urban local bodies
 
The 8th Regional GRIHA Summit in Mumbai, in association with Public Works Department (PWD) Maharashtra served as a platform for knowledge sharing, and facilitate various multi-stakeholder partnerships and networking among governments, academia, civil society organizations, and professionals. The theme of the summit 'Choosing sustainable, building sustainable', was aligned to focus on selection of the most sustainable building materials and technologies to minimize impact on our environment, economy and communities, critical to sustainable development.

The 2-day Summit deliberated on various sections related to building materials to achieve sustainability in the built environment through sessions on materials for designing building envelopes, low-energy materials for interiors, innovations and entrepreneurship in the sector, enhancing energy efficiency in green buildings and significance of materials for indoor environmental quality. SVAGRIHA tool was also demonstrated to the participants to enable them assess any project on green features. Furthermore, a hands-on training program on simulation software was also conducted to meet the requisites of GRIHA compliance.
 
 
  Five Star GRIHA LD Master Plan Rating awarded to IIT-Gandhinagar, Phase 1A
 
The project has been designed to be 46% more energy efficient than GRIHA LD base case. Site planning has been done to improve walkability in the campus through continuous and universally accessible footpaths. The project shall reduce its annual water demand by 41.86% through low-flow fixtures and reuse of treated waste water through DEWATS system. Besides, a bio-gas plant has also been installed on site to treat all the organic waste generated and convert it into electricity.
 
 
  GRIHA Five Star Provisional Rating awarded to BEL Academy for Excellence, Bengaluru
 
The project has demonstrated compliance with all the mandatory requirements of ECBC 2007 and the EPI of the project was reduced by 64.27% from the GRIHA benchmark EPI. A 90 kWp solar PV plant is installed, which meets 16.80% of lighting and HVAC load. Out of 110 existing mature trees which were located within the site boundary, only 45 trees were cut and 65 trees were transplanted and 260 new saplings were planted on the project site. The other salient features of the project were 73% reduction in building water consumption; 46% savings in landscape water requirement; use of low energy materials for 100% of the materials used in false ceilings/internal partitions/panelling in the project; and 55.6% of daylight integration in the total living space of the project.
 
 
  GRIHA Four Star Provisional Rating awarded to Pawan Hans Heliport Passenger Terminal and Utility Building, New Delhi
 
The project has demonstrated compliance with all the mandatory requirements of ECBC 2007 and the EPI of the project was reduced by 62.47% from the GRIHA benchmark EPI. A 5 kWp solar PV plant is installed, which meets 11.51% indoor lighting requirement. The other salient features of the project were 54.86% reduction in building water consumption by installing low flow fixtures; and 77.50% of daylight integration in the total living space of the project.
 
 
  Ten new products have been enlisted in the GRIHA product catalogue
Two new products from Jindal Mectec Pvt. Ltd. have been added under the category of "Insulation" and eight new products from Kamdhenu Ltd. have been added under the category of "High SRI paints and Low VOC interior paints".
