National Conference on Green Design: Buildings & Habitats 2011
Association for Development and Research of Sustainable Habitats (ADaRSH) in association with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India (GoI), organised a two-day 'National Conference on Green Design: Buildings and Habitats' at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on 7-8 January 2011.
Many key players in the construction industry participated as speakers/sponsors/ exhibitors/participants. Attended by over 300 building professionals and decision-makers from both the government and the private sectors, the conference gave clear direction for ADaRSH's work in the coming year. The conference was inaugurated by Dr Farooq Abdullah, Hon'ble Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, GoI; Dr R K Pachauri,Director-General,TERI; and Shri Deepak Gupta, Secretary, MNRE.
The two-day conference also hosted an exhibition on the sidelines to showcase green building products, energy-efficient solutions, and new technologies and services available today to build a sustainable habitat. The list of 22 exhibitors at the National conference for Green Design: Buildings and Habitats are: AIS Glass, Armstrong, BASF Companies in India, Bayer MaterialScience, Daily Dump: Compost at Home, Desiccant Rotors International, Dow Chemicals, Everest, Lloyd Insulations, Owens Corning, Saint Gobain Glass, Surmount Energy, SOHOM FENSTERTECH PVT.LTD, Synefra, Termex, Technoform, UTC (United Technologies Corporation), and Veejay Trading.
GRIHA National Conference 2010
The GRIHA National Conference was held on 4 January 2010 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. It was jointly organised by TERI and the MNRE. The one-day conference was inaugurated by Dr Farooq Abdullah, Honourable Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy. Dr R K Pachauri, Director-General, TERI, and Mr Deepak Gupta, Secretary, MNRE, were also present on the occasion.
The one-day conference on GRIHA and Green Buildings focused on micro and macro aspects of developing green buildings and habitats. It was attended by over 400 professionals from different disciplines, like architecture, engineering and construction management. It had four technical sessions focusing on the GRIHA rating system, sustainable buildings, sustainable habitats, and tools and techniques for designing sustainable buildings.
An exhibition of green building materials and technologies was also a part of the event There were stalls on products relevant to design and construction of green buildings, like building performance simulation software, building envelope insulation, high-performance glass, eco-friendly paints, high-albedo roof coatings, light pipes, drip irrigation systems, tree transplantation, low-cost eco-friendly housing for the shelterless, and smart wireless monitoring and control of urban utilities.
