12:45 - 13:45 | GRIHA : Implementing sustainability GRIHA is not merely a rating system. The GRIHA framework also influences the design process and design interpretation. The outcomes of applying GRIHA results in habitat that are locally contextualized, environmentally sensitive and respond to social, environmental and economic needs of the people. Over the years of implementing GRIHA, we have come across several innovative interpretations of GRIHA benchmarks and criteria, be it in form of enhanced energy efficiency through good design or looking at larger neighborhood issues of micro climate moderation, proper phasing or sustainable mobility. This session draws from various examples of GRIHA from around the country through presentations on projects of various scales, typologies and functions. - Ms Swati Reddy, Environmental Building Consultant, Terra Viridis |

14:30 - 14:45 | GRIHA Updates Feedback on GRIHA implementation across the country has directed us to further develop versions and adapt GRIHA to suit specific requirements. The post occupancy audit information has facilitated quantification of the impact on resource conservation, which in turn validates commitments and helps measure performances across project typologies. This session highlights the experiences, best practices and impact of GRIHA and its various versions. |

14:45 - 15:45 | Promoting business through renewable energy As a country, there is strong policy focus on renewable energy in India, which has witnessed success at the macro level. The building sector also offers a huge potential for generation and integration of renewable energy, where technology interventions for converting waste to energy, utilizing geothermal energy etc. remain untapped. GRIHA lays a special emphasis on this and mandates renewable energy integration. However, a large scale adoption is possible only when such interventions are profitable. This panel will discuss examples of cost effective renewable energy strategies, initiatives and technological interventions for promoting business through renewable energy. - Chair - Ms Mili Majumdar, Director TERI & Secretary cum Treasurer, ADaRSH |

11:15 - 12:15 | Training young minds: from within and outside Curriculum, formal learning and training through experience of sustainable habitats are key to inculcating a responsible attitude in students and teachers that plays a critical role in reducing wasteful consumption and imbibing healthier lifestyles. A significant part of the GRIHA footprint includes educational campuses; and with launch of the GRIHA Prakriti rating system for existing schools, we are set to mainstream sustainable habitat from within and outside. This panel will deliberate on education (i.e. curriculum) and campus level interventions (green campuses) to influence minds. - Launch of Sustainability Initiatives Newsletter, GRIHA edition |

14:30 - 16:00 | Panel Discussion - Should green buildings be incentivized? Very strong opinions on whether green buildings should be incentivised exist today. While one school of thought is clearly for the motion and refuses to move away from the business as usual scenario, there is a parallel belief that incorporation of resource efficiency is beneficial for developers and occupants of buildings- and hence does not need incentives for promotion. The panel discussion on the subject shall bring out opinions both for and against the motion. - Chair: Ms Manisha Natarajan, Senior Editor, Business News at NDTV Profit |
