"Golden Nest" is a 240 sq. ft. cottage inspired by the form of a bird's nest. It has been designed to create a comfortable living space using one of the most sustainable materials on earth, ‘Bamboo’ and is meant primarily for the hospitality industry where speed of construction, aesthetics, form, sustainability of structures and responsible tourism are the new buzz words in the spirit of ‘fun with responsibility’.

The cottage has a plinth dimension of 16' x 15' feet. The structural skeleton is built from Copper Chrome Boron (CCB) vacuum pressure treated bamboo poles of the species dendrocalamus stocksii. The bamboo is straightened and bent using heating method giving it an aesthetic appeal. The load of the structure is distributed by the bamboo framework which comprises of the columns and beams, over which the bamboo shingle roof is fixed. The walls are made of a bamboo frame for structural support and the outer & inner surfaces of the wall are made from flattened bamboo and bamboo mat respectively pasted on environmentally friendly Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) board.

To conclude, it will not be an overstatement if bamboo is termed as one of the most sustainable and environmentally friendly materials to build a structure with carbon negative impact, since bamboo sequesters around 40,000 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere per acre making it an icon of sustainability amongst all the floral species in the world.
