The Quezon City Mayor has ordered the city's Department of Building Official to include government-owned facilities including school buildings, health centers, hospitals and office buildings among those to be required to comply with the new green building ordinance. The green building standard is provided for under the newly passed City Council's Green Building Infrastructure Ordinance, which mandates the use of eco-friendly technology and systems in the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of building, including retrofitting building projects in the city.
