Australia is renowned for having one of the most environmentally sustainable real estate systems in the world. Ranked alongside Britain and France at the top of the recently released Jones Lang LaSalle Real Estate Sustainability Index, Australia has proved a leader in energy-efficiency benchmarking and green-building ratings. The sustainability index is a measure of the property development practices of 28 countries and is a subset of the Global Real Estate Transparency Index. The director of sustainability at JSL,Mr Joel Quintal, attributed the top score to the nation's detailed monitoring system and comprehensive environmental reporting.
