A half day workshop on "SVA GRIHA (Small Versatile Affordable Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment)" was organized in collaboration with PCMC (Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation) and CREDAI (Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India) on 22nd August, 2013 at Auto Cluster Exhibition Centre, Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune to give a comprehensive understanding of SVA GRIHA and also to apprise the concerned stakeholders about the PCMC incentives for adopting the rating system.

Ms Priyanka Kochhar, Senior Programme Manager, ADaRSH presented the genesis of SVA GRIHA and GRIHA. Whereas Mr Apoorv Vij, Programme Manager, ADaRSH facilitated deeper understanding of the rating system to 115 participants comprising senior planners, architects, environment analyst and engineers from across the region.

The program focused on the 14 criteria of the rating system which are divided into 5 broad groups namely: energy, water and waste, materials, landscape and others. Given that SVA GRIHA is a simpler and faster design cum rating tool, the inbuilt calculators were also demonstrated for specific criteria. Mr Sanjay Kulkarni, Executive Engineer, Environment Department, PCMC apprised the participants about the attractive rebates that are offered on premium amount (upto 50% refund) paid by the developers and on property tax (upto 15% refund ) paid by the occupants.

While appreciating ADaRSH's efforts towards greening the city, Shri Shrikar Pardeshi, Honorable Municipal Commissioner, PCMC made an appeal to the participants to actively participate in the green building initiative and register as many projects as possible. The workshop concluded with a very positive note as the participants expressed their interest in adopting GRIHA and SVA GRIHA for their future projects.
