ECBC to promote green building in Tripura
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has urged Tripura government to adopt mechanism for reducing power consumption substantially to contribute in combating climate change. After third state level workshop on 'Energy efficiency: codes and rating in buildings' here yesterday, organized by Society of Energy Engineers and Managers (SEEM), BEE has constituted Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) under Energy Conservation Act 2001 for Tripura. ECBC had been assigned to generate awareness and popularizing energy efficient green building designs suiting the climate condition of Northeast while workshop was targeted for architects, town planners, energy sector workers and other enterprises to provide information about green building. Ministry of Environment and Forest has asked Northeastern states to popularize green building concept termed as GRIHA to reduce energy consumption without sacrificing the comfort levels and reduced destruction of natural areas, habitats, and biodiversity.
