Two-thirds of a green buildings value is tied up in intangible benefits provided to its occupants, which industry groups are now trying to identify and monetise. Speaking ahead of next week's Green Cities conference in Melbourne, Ms Jane Henley, Chief Executive of the World Green Building Council, said research suggested about 30 per cent of a green buildings value was quantifiable in terms of energy and other savings. Other factors such as natural lighting, job satisfaction, workers' health, brand association and the use of fewer toxic materials were also significant, Ms Henley said, but such benefits were difficult to quantify.
