GRIHA Council Organizes a Workshop on Green Buildings for Students of Architecture
A two-day training programme was organised by GRIHA Council for B.Arch. students of C.A.R.E. School of Architecture, Trichy from March 8 to March 9, 2016.
On day one, Mr Ankit Bhalla delivered presentations to spread awareness among students on green buildings, their rating process, criteria requirements, and compliance measures for different variants of ratings provided by the GRIHA Council. Post this, Mr Gautam Aswani briefed the students about site management practices to be kept in mind as per the Green Building norms of GRIHA.
On day two, a session on Human Comfort (visual, thermal, and acoustic) was taken up by Mr Ankit Bhalla, in which he taught students about the NBC 2005, CPCB guidelines and codes to be followed for achieving human comfort in buildings. A field visit was also conducted within the C.A.R.E. campus to teach students about visual, thermal, and acoustic comfort. This field exercise helped students understand the importance of designing buildings keeping in mind a comfortable environment for the occupants of the building. A visual, thermal, and acoustic audit was also undertaken by students under the expert supervision of GRIHA Council officials and college faculty.
Over 56 students from the C.A.R.E. School of Architecture participated in the event, and benefitted from the programme. A certificate of participation and a pen drive were gifted to students as a token of appreciation from the GRIHA Council. Overall the programme received an overwhelming response from all the participants.
