The collaboration is significant for bringing together the best of global and Indian design and construction practices to ensure high performance buildings in India and South East Asia.

As part of the strategic collaboration, TERI and US Green Building Council have agreed to collaborate on the following areas:

1. Existing buildings: TERI and USGBC will collaborate and develop a new set of regional priority credits and alternative compliance paths for LEED for Existing Buildings (LEED EB), and LEED Dynamic Plaque (LEED DP). The best of international and Indian practices, standards and mechanisms will converge in the new LEED (EB and DP) for India, as a far more potent system to promote design and construction of high performance buildings in India.
