Call it a triple bonanza for the city. Jadavpur University's third campus will soon house the first theatre 'multiplex', with one 'thrust' stage, which juts out like a ramp into the audience, a studio-theatre and an amphitheatre, all on the same campus. It will also possibly be the first green performing arts venue, where, according to JU officials, GRIHA norms will be followed and power won't be wasted unnecessarily.

The Rs 15-crore project has just got the nod from the Union ministry of culture, which will provide for 60% of the cost. Over 70 institutions from Kashmir to Kerala had applied for the Cenre's 'Tagore Cultural Complex' scheme. JU is one of the eight to finally bag the project.
