A two-day intensive training programme was organized by GRIHA Council and Public Works Department (PWD), Government of Maharashtra from 11th October, 2018 to 12th October, 2018 at, VQCC Hall, C.E. Office, PWD, Nashik for PWD officials to give a detailed understanding of the GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) rating system. The training programme was inaugurated by Shri. H. S. Pagare, Chief Engineer of Nashik Public Works Circle, PWD and delivered welcome address for the participants.

This training programme was specially designed for the PWD officers, under the PWD-GRIHA Council agreement, to promote GRIHA and green building concept in the State. The objective of the programme was to enable participants understand the intent of the national green building rating system, compliances and appraisals under various focus areas like sustainable site planning, water, energy efficiency, sustainable building materials, solid waste management and so on. The concepts and requirement of the rating system were conveyed through presentations and specific exercises were designed for better understanding of the subject. Reference material and presentations made during the programme were made available to each participant for reference.

The programme was attended by 59 officials from various department of PWD Nashik, including Dhule, Tribal, Jalgaon, and Ahmednagar region. Participants found the training programme very knowledgeable and expressed interest in appearing for the upcoming GRIHA evaluator's and certified professional's exam.
