Poverty eradication and economic development will be at the core of the government's policy for environment protection, environment minister Ms Jayanthi Natarajan said at the INFRAGREEN'2011 forum organized by The Economic Times. Both Ms Natarajan and Planning Commission member Dr B K Chaturvedi said that they hoped that corporates, builders and citizens would help in reducing the carbon footprint. Business leaders at the gathering said that sustainable development was already making business sense as people were willing pay higher prices for houses in building that adopted green practices.
