One day awareness workshop on 'Demystifying green buildings and GRIHA for developers'
A one-day awareness workshop on GRIHA was organized in partnership with The Confederation of Real Estate Developer's Association of India (CREDAI), Goa chapter On March 8, 2014 in Panjim, Goa. The workshop was well received and witnessed the presence of 85 participants representing the builders, developers, architects and engineers. The workshop was graced by the presence of Hon. Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Manohar Parrikar, the chief town planner, Mr S T Puttaraju and Dr Prabhudessai, President of CREDAI-Goa chapter. Dr Prabhudessai welcomed the participants and shared information on various activities done by CREDAI over past few years. The Chief Minister, Shri. Parrikar elucidated his government's intention of promoting green buildings in the State. In his budget speech two days prior to the event, he had already announced a rebate on infrastructure tax for the builders in case of buildings that are GRIHA certified. He participated in the panel discussion during this workshop and answered questions from the audience. A recorded message from Dr Pachauri was screened during the event which had a positive impact and was greatly appreciated. Ms Mili Majumdar, Ms Priyanka Kochhar and Mr Apoorv Vij conducted various sessions introducing the participants to variants of GRIHA, the cost and value of green buildings through presentation of case studies. Ms Ashwini Panandiker co-ordinated the event and proposed the vote of thanks.
The participants found the program very satisfactory, interesting and a great learning experience. CREDAI-Goa chapter expressed its willingness to join hands with TERI and ADaRSH for promotion of GRIHA in the state.
