A 3-day intensive GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) training programme was organized by GRIHA Council from 27th to 29th February, 2020 at School of Architecture, GITAM, Visakhapatnam to enhance the knowledge on green buildings and GRIHA rating parameters for building faculty and students.

The aim of the training programme was also to educate and train faculty and students of School of Architecture, GITAM, Visakhapatnam on GRIHA V 2015 and also to identify evaluators and certified professionals for facilitating and promoting the GRIHA rating system pan India.

The programme focused on sustainable site planning, water and wastewater management, building design optimization, energy performance optimization, renewable energy utilization, solid waste management, sustainable building material and construction technology, health, wellbeing and environmental quality. Each session was carried out with the presentation of the respective criteria followed by group exercises as well as individual exercises for faculty and students.

Reference material, presentations made during the programme, brochures of various ratings of GRIHA, a copy of Shashwath magazine were also made available to each participant. The workshop was attended by 30 participants consisting of faulty and M.Arch students of School of Architecture, GITAM, Visakhapatnam.
