Stakeholder Workshop on 'GRIHA for Day Schools'
The GRIHA council along with Environment Education and Awareness, TERI organized a Stakeholder Meeting for 'GRIHA for Day Schools' rating on 08th November, 2017 at TERI, IHC, New Delhi. It was attended by school teachers, consultants and auditors from National Capital Region (NCR).
Mr. Anil Kumar Pandit, Chief Engineer, Public Works Department Government of NCT of Delhi was the guest speaker for the event. Appreciating GRIHA's initiative, he emphasized the need for all government schools for adopting the green practices and ensuring that government schools are benefitted from the rating outcomes.
The half day workshop was designed to discuss the various criteria under the rating for school along with valuable inputs from the stakeholder showing the need for promoting the concepts of sustainability. It was discussed how students along with teachers can achieve this rating for the school such that the sustainable school becomes a demonstration project for the students. The students therefore learn ways reducing their environmental impacts so that it becomes an environmental learning tool with eco-friendly strategies. The intent of the rating is to assist schools to reduce their environmental footprint while simultaneously empowering the next generation.
