One and Half Day Student Training Programme, Nashik
A one and half day training programme was conducted on green buildings & GRIHA at Maratha Vidya Prasarak Samaj's College of Architecture and Centre for Design College, Nashik, Maharashtra on 7-8 September 2017.
During the first half of day 1, a presentation on green buildings was delivered to impart knowledge to the students on green buildings, the rating process, criteria requirements, and compliance measures including good and bad practices under GRIHA version 2015. The presentation was followed by a Q&A session. This session was attended by all the students of MVP College.
In the second half, an exercise on 'Construction Management' was conducted for students. The students were given site plan of a project and were asked to prepare a PERT chart for various activities initiated during construction of a building. They were also asked to designate areas on the site plan for services such as site office, labour quarters, drinking water, material storage, soil erosion tanks, etc. Day 1 concluded with discussion with each team about their tasks.
On Day 2, the students were taught to calculate daylighting in buildings. This was followed with an exercise where the students were given a building plan and were required to calculate daylighted areas for various rooms. The students were also trained in designing shading devices for windows. As an exercise, the students were asked to design shading devices for certain windows demarcated in the building plan. The exercise concluded with discussion on the same.
Over 80 students from MVP College, Nashik participated in the one and a half day programme. The students were enthusiastic throughout the training programme and learnt from the lectures and exercise. Certificates of participation were distributed to students at the end of the second day from GRIHA Council.
