A one day awareness program was organized by GRIHA Council in association with Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation(KDMC) on 6th August at the Acharya Atre Rang Mandir in Kalyan. The event was presided over by Shri Govind Bodke - Commissioner of KDMC, Mrs Vinita Vishwanath - Mayor, Mrs. Sapna Kolhi - City Engineer and Mrs. Namrata Mahal – Manager, GRIHA Council along with town planning officers and members of the KDMC.

Intended to introduce the GRIHA tool and create awareness about green buildings and sustainable development the event was attended by 450 participants, involving students of architecture and engineering and professionals from the field of design, construction and consultancy.

The variants of GRIHA, the intent and approach of the rating framework and the processes involved in green building certification were explained in detail followed by the presentation of case studies and an interesting quiz. The interaction sessions were especially effective with the large number of enthusiastic students in attendance. The event concluded on a positive note with KDMC officials expressing interest in adoption of green building concept and GRIHA rating system.
