The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) launched the 'Green Building
Initiative' on 30 July 2011. It was inaugurated by Mr Ashish Sharma, PCMC Commissioner,
and Mr Yogesh Behl, Mayor, Pimpri Chinchwad, at the Auto Cluster, Chinchwad.

Under the 'Green Building Initiative':

• All future buildings within the PCMC shall be GRIHA compliant.


• An 'Environmental Energy Cell' has been set up at the PCMC to coordinate,
  propagate, and monitor GRIHA implementation.


• The developers who commission GRIHA compliant projects shall qualify for
  the following rebates on premium (i.e. a fee that every developer is scheduled
  to pay to the PCMC).


• The owners of GRIHA compliant buildings shall receive a 10% rebate in property tax.
