Rs 150 crore multi-specialty hospital taking shape
The much-awaited construction of the super-speciality hospital in Madurai has begun and is carried out in full swing. The first-of-its-kind hospital from the government sector in the entire state except Chennai is being constructed at a cost of Rs 150 crore. The hospital is constructed right in front of the annexe building of Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) adjacent to the Anna Bus Terminal. The work has been expedited following the recent visit of J Radhakrishnan, state health secretary. GRH authorities, under whose supervision the entire process is taking place, said that it would take one-and-a-half years to complete it.
Shreekar, an architect who accompanied K Nayak during the visit said the four-storied building will meet the Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA). They expect three or four-star rating for the building. Solar panels would also be installed in the building to meet the power requirement especially for hot water and premises lighting, he added.
