A two-day workshop was organized by HAREDA in order to build internal capacities of their officials in the area of green buildings, building energy efficiency, Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC), Solar passive architecture, etc. The workshop was conducted as a series of interactive sessions requiring constant and active participation from the audience members. The sessions were woven around the GRIHA rating system so they started with the first session which was based on the first few criteria of GRIHA, those on 'Site Planning'.



The presentation on the site planning criteria was followed by an exercise, wherein the participants were provided with a hypothetical site-plan and were asked to apply the various criteria on the same. This format was followed for the entire course of the workshop for all other criteria as well, wherein the calculations involved in achieving the criteria were carried out by the participants either individually or in a group, for a thorough understanding of the subjects at hand.   Full Text
