With 510 Energy Star certified buildings within the urban sprawl, Los Angeles leads the pack of US cities when it comes to green structures. Bundle reports on the rankings released by the Environmental Protection Agency that show the nation's top 10 cities for green buildings, including "residential and commercial buildings, retail stores, hospitals, schools, manufacturing plants and other structures". Those 510 buildings all boast the Energy Star, which means they have a score of at least 75 out of 100 on a benchmark ranking that calculates "energy use relative to the national population of similar buildings". Buildings must meet a broad range of criteria in order to qualify to apply for the Energy Star distinction.
